Ants are social insects that live in colonies. They generally live in the ground or a tree; but if the conditions are right, they can also live inside structures-including your home. The Queen establishes a new colony and once inseminated, she lays eggs throughout her lifetime.

Depending on the species, ants range in size from 1/16" to 1/2" and they vary in color. Some species have swarmers (winged reproductives), which become queens.
